Who it’s for
The everyday training treat — small, soft and low enough in calories to reward fifty times in a session.
Who should skip it
Your dog needs a limited-ingredient diet, or you want a treat that keeps for months once opened.

The verdict

The default training treat for a reason that is arithmetic rather than taste. At around two to three calories a piece and pea-sized, you can run a fifty-repetition session with a small dog and still be inside a sensible treat allowance — which is the actual constraint on how fast a dog learns at home. Real chicken as the lead ingredient, no corn, wheat or soy, and soft enough to swallow instantly, so the session keeps its rhythm. Owners describe them as eraser-sized and going a long way in a large bag. Two honest caveats from the same owners: the texture can dry out if the bag is left open, and the smell divides people. Squash them into halves for a small dog, and keep something better in reserve for recall work outdoors.

Drawbacks

  • Dries out if the bag is not resealed
  • Smell is polarising among owners
